When to use it
Use preview links for QA tickets, support cases, pull requests, carrier approval, and before/after label reviews. A link is useful when everyone needs to discuss the same label state without copying long ZPL blocks into chat.
How to create a safe link
Paste redacted ZPL into the viewer, select the printer density, generate a preview, then copy the share link. Open the link once in a private tab or another browser before sending it to confirm that only sample data is present.
- Use test names and test addresses
- Mask order numbers, account numbers, and patient identifiers
- Keep the density parameter visible so reviewers know the intended printer class
Privacy note
Avoid putting live customer addresses or sensitive order data into shared URLs. Redact or use sample data when possible. If a real production sample is unavoidable, send it only through your approved private support channel rather than a public issue, pull request, or chat room.
Support ticket example
A useful ticket includes the preview link, target printer model, label size, DPI, observed problem, expected output, and whether a physical print differs from the browser proof. Attach a PNG or PDF proof when the reviewer cannot open the tool.
Before and after reviews
For template changes, create one link for the current label and one link for the proposed label. Review field positions, barcode footprint, wrapped text, and bottom clipping before approving the change.
FAQ
Can a ZPL preview link contain private data?
Yes. The link can include the encoded ZPL payload, so redact names, addresses, identifiers, and production order data before sharing.
Is a preview link enough for printer approval?
No. Use the link for fast review, then print one physical sample on the target printer, media, and density before production release.
What should I send with a preview link?
Include printer model, DPI, label size, expected output, observed issue, and whether the problem happens in the browser preview, physical print, or both.
